Norway – Budget 2014 Tweaks Tax Rules, Increases Social Security 

KPMG Law Advokafirma in Norway looks at the 2014 budget proposals put forward by the former government of Jens Stoltenberg and the new government led by Erma Solberg. Discussed in this newsletter, amongst other proposals, are changes to the personal income tax brackets and rates, the increase in the minimum and personal allowances, the tightening up of rules regarding certain employer-provided benefits and deductible travel expenses for employees, alterations to the calculation of the taxable benefit when loans are granted by employers to their employees, the elimination of tax class 2, modifications to the wealth tax regime, and an increase in social security contributions.
