United States – IRS Announces It Will Recognize All Same-Sex Marriages for Federal Tax Purpose 

On August 29, 2013, the U.S. Treasury issued a release, and the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued Revenue Ruling 2013-17, stating that same-sex couples, legally married in jurisdictions that recognize their marriages, will be treated as married for all U.S. federal tax purposes regardless of whether such couples currently reside in a jurisdiction that recognizes their marriage.
