United Kingdom – Queen’s Speech Tackles Thorny Immigration Issues 

KPMG LLP in the United Kingdom reports on the Queen’s annual speech at the state opening of Parliament today which outlined the proposed changes in U.K. law over the next 12 months including a strong focus on curbing immigration. Some of the key proposed measures to be embodied in a new immigration bill include increased fines for employers that use illegal labor, facilitating deportations, landlord checks on tenants’ immigration status, and restrictions on access to government services where the individual, due to his or her immigration status, is not entitled.
