The challenging economic and geopolitical landscape is prompting many TMT organizations to reassess their global mobility strategies and operating models. Leaders will need to ensure that their service delivery model, team, and technology are set up to meet today’s demands and demonstrate the value their functions bring to their organization.

These findings from the KPMG Global Mobility Benchmarking Survey highlight the evolving landscape of global mobility in the TMT sector in the areas of service delivery, technology investment and artificial intelligence (AI), goals and challenges, and program and talent management.
Service delivery
Selecting the appropriate service delivery model is essential for the success of the global mobility function. When designing a structure, TMT leaders should consider both the current and future needs of the business. When looking at the next 12-18 months:
- 40% say the use of shared or managed services will increase
- 32% expect the use of centers of excellence will increase
Technology investment and AI
As leaders prioritize operational efficiency and seek to speed up processes, global TMT mobility functions are exploring various technology solutions.
- 52% of TMT respondents are using AI regularly or anticipate using it within a year
- 85% say the top way to leverage AI is to automate administrative tasks
- 40% are planning to make technology investments in the next 12-18 months
- The top area for technology investment is in compliance risk assessment
Mobility program goals and challenges
TMT respondents identified alignment and adaptability as equally important goals and compensation/payroll compliance as the top relocation challenge.
