Notice 2014-4 - Interim guidance for supporting organizations 

December 23:  The IRS today released an advance copy of Notice 2014-4 as interim guidance for Type III supporting organizations seeking to qualify as functionally integrated by supporting a governmental supported organization.

Notice 2014-4 [PDF 88 KB] also modifies provisions of Notice 2006-109 by providing interim guidance to certain grantors in determining whether a potential grantee is a Type I, Type II, or functionally integrated Type III supporting organization for purposes of the excise taxes imposed under sections 4942, 4945, and 4966.


The IRS has requested comments concerning the guidance provided by Notice 2014-4. Comments are due by March 7, 2014.
