FATCA - Form 8957 and instructions for financial institutions, in lieu of online registration 

August 22: The IRS posted Form 8957, Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) Registration, and the related instructions for use by financial institutions that decide not to use the online registration provided by the IRS under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).

The IRS on Monday, August 19 opened the FATCA registration portal—a website portal that financial institutions can use to register, modify, or add registration information with respect to FATCA. Read TaxNewsFlash-United States (August 19, 2013).


The new IRS Form 8957 [PDF 125 KB] is provided for financial institutions opting not to use the online registration. Form 8957 is not to be mailed before January 1, 2014. Read the Form 8957 instructions [PDF 164 KB].
