New members of IRS Advisory Council include KPMG’s McCormally 

January 30: The IRS today announced the names of six new members of the IRS Advisory Council—a public forum for IRS officials and representatives of the public to discuss key tax administration issues.

Today’s IRS release—IR-2014-8 [PDF 40 KB]—explains that the members of the IRS Advisory Council provide the IRS Commissioner and IRS division leadership with feedback, observations, and suggestions. They will meet periodically and will submit a report to the IRS in November 2014 at a public meeting.

The IRS Advisory Council members generally serve a three-year term with a possible one-year extension. The six new members joining the 14 returning members in 2014 include:

  • Timothy J. McCormally—Director in the Washington National Tax practice of KPMG, LLP, in Washington, D.C.
