United States – Supreme Court Holds Federal Discrimination Against Same-Sex Couples Unconstitutional 

On June 26, 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down two rulings addressing the legality of same-sex marriage at the federal level as well as for the state of California. The implications of one of the cases, U.S. v. Windsor, are far-reaching, impacting individual income and payroll taxes, social security taxes and benefits, and immigration laws, among others.
