United States – IRS Announces Tax Relief for Victims of Hurricane Sandy 

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced a number of measures targeted at providing tax relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy. These measures include: qualified disaster relief payments made to individuals by their employer or any other person can be excluded from the taxable income of the recipients; employees who donate leave in exchange for employer cash payments to tax-exempt organizations will not have additional income or wages for federal income tax purposes; and various tax filing and payment deadlines have been extended.
