KPMG in India reports that the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation in India issued a circular to its officers clarifying certain key aspects on International Workers (IWs) who participate in the national pension fund. By clarifying who is an IW, what compensation is subject to contributions to the pension fund, and who is eligible for refunds from the fund, the clarifications should ease problems faced by Indian workers in countries that India shares a social security totalization agreement with, as well as by IWs who are uncertain whether their pension account is dormant.
