With sustainability-related reporting standards evolving, there is an increasing need for companies to determine their own materiality and proactively consider what to report, and how to report it.

Asia Pacific edition: Survey of Sustainability Reporting 2022

The survey shows that 86% of N100 companies in Thailand include sustainability information in their annual financial reporting, which is one of the highest rates globally. Outside of N100 companies, the whole country reporting rate ups to 97%, an increase from 84% in 2020.

The increase in reporting is in part due to Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s requirement for the ‘One Report’ for reporting year 2021 that gives more focus on the disclosure of sustainability and ESG.

Furthermore, in October 2022, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) added 170 companies to the Thailand Sustainability Investment index (THSI). This is part of our country’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, and net zero emissions by 2065. In alignment with this goal, companies should focus on tracking and providing quantifiable data in sustainability reporting. In doing so, they can underscore their commitment to sustainability to their stakeholders and to society at large.
