The Goal Line is Always Moving

Finance executives often struggle to understand how to fully leverage technology, typically staying more focused on business issues. CFOs clearly see technology as an enabler of better financial planning and analysis, yet they confess that in many cases their companies have not fully leveraged its capabilities. In our survey, nearly 40 percent say their current information systems cannot support analysis of financial and performance data well, and that the financial and performance information management being used for decision making is not as accurate as it could be.

"[In regard to keeping pace with changing technology], I don’t know if it ever gets done. There’s always something new."

— CFO, National Food and Agricultural Cooperative

*Senior finance executives at large companies with more than $1 billion per year in revenue were surveyed. Research conducted 2012 jointly between CFO Research and KPMG LLP.
