Switzerland – Ordinance Provides More Details on New Law on Taxing Equity Compensation 

KPMG AG in Switzerland reports that to further the harmonization of taxation of equity-based employment compensation across cantons, Switzerland’s government issued an ordinance (“Verordnung”) on 27 June 2012 subsequent to a new law on the taxation of such income passed by the Federal Council in June 2011, which will enter into force on 1 January 2013.  The ordinance provides further details in respect of the law’s implementation including the point of taxation, international allocations, and employer’s reporting requirements.
