KPMG participated in the XVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF)

This year the Forum was dedicated to the topical issue of “Reinforcing Trust in the Time of Transformation”.

22-24 May St. Petersburg hosted the 2014 International Economic Forum (SPIEF). KPMG was represented at the event by John Scott, Deputy Global Chairman, and a delegation of local partners headed by Oleg Goshchansky, Chairman and Managing Partner of KPMG in Russia and the CIS.

This year the SPIEF's program was opened by the Global CEO Summit supported by KPMG as an intellectual partner. Oleg Goshchansky took part in the “Translating challenges into opportunities: acting together” session dealt with the issues of improvement of the conditions of business conduct and the investment climate, deoffshorization of the Russian economy and development of the financial system of Russia. “Deoffshorization is not a unique Russian phenomenon, – noted Oleg Goshchansky in his speech, –  but the details of this process, which can change depending on a country, are important. Fighting with offshore firms, authorities should act carefully so that not to do harm to business”. Oleg also shared his impressions on the Forum during an air broadcast on the Kommersant FM.

John Scott moderated a panel discussion “Strategies to Win in the Global Fight for Talents”, during which the issue of recruitment, retention and motivation of talented staff was discussed.

The KPMG partners also commented on a number of SPIEF's industry sessions for the Kommersant FM.
