KPMG and Qatar Diabetes Association hold family fun day to raise awareness of diabetes amongst staff 

Organizations team up to promote healthy lifestyle
KPMG, working with Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA) a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, held a family fun day at Katara on Saturday 17 May 2014 to encourage staff and their families to become more aware of the risks of diabetes and to enjoy being active.


Over 200 people attended the event and enjoyed a variety of healthy activities including beach ball and aerobics along with talent shows, handicrafts and games.


QDA carried out blood sugar testing on around 30 attendees and educated people on what they can do to help prevent onset of the disease. A similar number of people also received a body mass index test and got advice on living healthily.

Dr. Abdulla Al-Hamaq, Executive Director, Qatar Diabetes Association said: “We are very pleased to have this joint event with KPMG, to spread the awareness about diabetes among the staff and their families in a fun way full with sport and competitions. Our medical staff did the blood sugar testing and assessed the risk factors of diabetes aiming at reaching those who at risk for diabetes so they can work on avoiding the disease. I think everybody left with a plan to eat healthy and move more.”
