Panama - Rules for “fiscal printer” compliance 

April 21: Businesses in Panama generally must comply with rules for documenting their sales activities using “fiscal printers” (equipos fiscales).

While there are certain exemptions from the required use of “fiscal printers” for certain activities or taxpayers (e.g., a special regime applies for multinational entities), business activities conducted in Panama generally must follow the rules requiring the use of “fiscal printers.”

A tax credit may be available with respect to the purchase of a “fiscal printer.” However, a request must be filed to claim the tax credit. Under recent guidance, the deadline for filing a tax credit request for purchases of new printer equipment has been extended and now applies to 31 October 2014.
