Corruption and bribery are fundamental issues that hamper social and economic development globally. Corrupt and unethical practices not only have an adverse impact on the gross domestic product (GDP) of many countries, they can also restrict the capital inflow, investment and overall growth of those economies. This Issues Monitor reviews some of the ways the economy is impacted and what anti-corruption and anti-bribery policies governments are implementing to curb the threat created by such practices.
