Hong Kong Banking Survey 2011

The 23rd edition of our survey of Hong Kong banks' performance also includes timely comment on the outlook for the sector in the year ahead.

It details the financial performance of banks during 2010, a period characterised by sustained loan growth, rising asset prices, low levels of bad debts and significant increases in the sale of investment products. The first half of 2011 saw a continuation of these generally favourable conditions. On the downside, interest rates remained very low, placing further pressure on net interest margins and making it difficult for banks to grow revenue to offset rising wage and other costs.
