In late 2007, with its commitment to corporate responsibility, KPMG in the United States embarked on an ambitious environmental program called Living Green. The firm began promoting environmental improvements and responsibility at work, home, and in the community.
With Living Green, KPMG is focused on achieving the following measurable goals over a three-year period through 2010:
- Reduce its carbon footprint by 25 percent
- Reduce paper consumption by 15 percent
- Achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification with 100 percent of new construction
- Increase alternative transportation by 5 percent
- Reduce waste by 10 percent
Through the Living Green program, the firm identified leading practices and established new programs and processes to support its environmental goals. These programs are being implemented at both the local office and national levels.
Today, thousands of KPMG employees and partners join together with a commitment to improving the environmental performance of our business. With KPMG’s commitment to sustainable business practices, Living Green will be a primary focus for years to come.
