Financial Statement Audit

Financial Statement Audit

The cornerstone of any audit is the process of getting to know the business

At KPMG we work hard to understand the drivers and risks, as well as the overall market landscape. We also provide independent assurance and insight that is designed to go beyond the audit opinion, and deliver objectivity that is both challenging and supportive and that helps identify emerging risks.

This approach aims to ensure our clients receive a robust and thorough audit that emphasises the most critical and relevant areas.

We can help you with:

  • Driving value from the audit
  • Effective communication with stakeholders
  • Improved efficiency
  • Speedy resolution of accounting issues
  • Independence and objectivity

Our Audit Process

There are four key phases to our award-winning audit process:

  1. Planning. We identify and confirm your key risks
  2. Controls phase. We evaluate the design and implementation of selected controls, advise management of any issues and carry out a half-year review.
  3. Substantiation. We then carry out tests of detail on areas that require particular focus.
  4. Completion. Finally we submit the audit opinion, delivering our considered view on key areas of your business.

Our professionals will work with you to understand your business and provide support, including:

  • Pro-active and relevant insight from a team with leading edge industry knowledge, supporting improved business performance.
  • Timely and practical resolutions to any accounting issues that arise, from partners who are empowered to make decisions on site.
  • A prioritised approach, focused on key risks and supported by technology designed to deliver real efficiency.
  • Frequent communication and substantial partner involvement so emergent risks can be quickly identified and discussed.
  • Minimal client involvement through co-ordinated and consistent audit team management.
  • Detailed post-audit feedback, so matters arising can be discussed and addressed, ensuring continuous improvement.
