Stephen is a Director in KPMG’s Consulting practice, and has extensive non-financial risk management experience across operational risk, operational resilience, compliance and financial crime. His experience is drawn from working as a regulatory litigation solicitor in London, where he acted for financial services institutions and large multinational corporates in the defense of regulatory disputes and prosecutions. In New Zealand, Stephen regularly appeared in the District and High Courts as a prosecutor. Prior to joining KPMG, Stephen applied his knowledge from acting in regulatory disputes and prosecutions to advise on the development, implementation and application of best practice non-financial risk management frameworks, policies and procedures at one of New Zealand’s largest banks.

Stephen is well-regarded for his calm, collaborative and pragmatic approach. He is naturally curious and highly skilled at understanding and solving complex problems. He has a strong ability to successfully manage multi-dimensional relationships with diverse stakeholders and create shared clarity.
