Under the Law on Additional Measures to ensure financial stability, a new annual levy has been introduced for banks in relation to individual deposits held in 2011-2014, payable from January 2012. The levy is payable to the state budget.

Modifications to the list of technical assistance projects which are exempt from tax and customs duties

This list comprises projects which benefit from exemptions from income tax, excises and customs duties, and for which the zero rate of VAT applies, under international agreements the Republic of Moldova is a party to.

Submission of tax reports in electronic format

Starting from 1 January 2012, VAT payers served by the Principal State Tax Inspectorate, the State Tax Inspectorate of Chisinau, Balti and Comrat are required to submit tax returns exclusively in electronic format using the E-declaration service.

New regulations on branches, representative offices and additional units of banks

The National Bank of Moldova has adopted new regulations which provide conditions for the setting up of branches, representative offices and additional units of banks in the Republic of Moldova.

Changes to the law on joint stock companies

A series of modifications have been introduced, which include the following: A company whose securities are listed on the stock exchange should provide certain information on its corporate website
