COP17: Daily from Durban

COP17 – the 17th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) takes place in Durban, South Africa from 28 November to 9 December 2011.

Once again representatives of 195 parties to the convention will gather in an attempt to determine what action the world could, should and will take to address the impacts of a warming climate. Yet expectations of success in the UN process have been modest since high hopes for a worldwide legal agreement were left unfulfilled at the Copenhagen conference in 2009.

Yvo de Boer, KPMG’s Special Global Advisor, Climate Change and Sustainability will be on site in Durban. He and other professionals from KPMG member firms are providing this daily commentary on the events, negotiations, and decisions of COP17.
