M4P

Many of our programmes take a holistic approach to development by seeking both immediate outcomes and long-term systemic change. In private sector development, for example, the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach focuses on transforming the fundamental structure of markets and value chains in emerging economies. If you can change the way a market engages with the bottom of the pyramid, or transform the opinions of business toward low-income consumers, the impact of your efforts may be felt for many years to come. Through its work with the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund, and Financial Sector Deepening Trust, IDAS is leading the way in cutting edge M4P work on the ground.

Following our support for its transition from a donor programme to a fully Kenyan-owned institution, the Uraia Trust worked with a variety of partners to shape the content of the new Kenyan Constitution. Since the Constitution’s approval, Uraia has also worked closely with the Jukwaa La Katiba platform to provide leadership, tracking, monitoring and evaluation of the implementation process.
