The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

The Global Fund is a unique, public-private partnership and international financing institution dedicated to attracting and disbursing additional resources to countries to prevent, treat and mitigate the impact of HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. The Global Fund’s model uses performance-based funding, and hence provides financing on condition that verifiable results are achieved. As the Global Fund does not have staff at country level, it requires local fund agents (LFAs) to monitor implementation. KPMG is the local fund agent in Sudan, South Sudan and South Africa. As LFA, we assist the Global Fund by independently overseeing programme performance and the accountable use of funds. This includes reviewing grantee requests for funding and undertaking site visits to verify health results have been achieved.
