For sustained development to be realized Africans need innovative and partnership-oriented approaches to policy, and programmes. These stakeholders include African governments, continental institutions, bilateral and multilateral development partners, the private sector, civil society, individual citizens and other players dedicated towards uplifting the continent. More than anywhere else in the world, in Africa, the interests of these stakeholders are inextricably linked.

Professional organizations have a role to play in the continent’s development agenda, and in this, KPMG remains steadfastly committed in rendering relevant support to the continent. Our commitment is underscored by the initiative to set up a unit – International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) – that is fully dedicated to offering development advisory services in Africa.

While IDAS was created by KPMG in 2007, many of the African practices have been providing development advisory and audit services for many years. In September 2009 we transferred IDAS Headquarters to Nairobi, for its unique position as a regional hub facilitating the deployment of staff across the continent as well as the strength of the KPMG East African partnership. Since opening our Nairobi office in 1949, KPMG has developed an extensive regional reach, with 16 Partners and over 360 professional staff operating out of offices in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.

With a core team of over 150 professionals across the continent, backed by an extensive network of specialized consultants and the benefits of one of the world’s largest professional service providers, International Development Advisory Services offers a one-stop shop for professional advisory services for governments, development partners, private and charity organisations involved in all aspects of regional, national and local development. We believe that new approaches are required. Our team is all about doing things in new ways, and IDAS is implementing several cutting edge development programmes.

We look forward to working with you and contributing to Africa’s growth and development.
