Experience

·        John Riva is an Executive Director of KPMG in the Channel Islands and is Head of Tax for a sub-region of KPMG Europe, which includes a number of jurisdictions such as the Channel Islands, Malta, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar and the Caribbean Islands. He is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

·        John has over twenty years experience (over half at partner level) in Jersey and international taxation and specialises in all aspects of offshore tax matters. John is the engagement partner in the Channel Islands for a number of KPMG’s major international and local clients.

·        John is the current President of the Jersey Taxation Society, and an adviser to a number of trade associations. He has sat of the Edwards’ Review Working Party (fiscal crime division) the Fiscal Review Working Party, the Jersey OECD Task Force, chaired the Jersey EU Tax Packaging Working Group and was an active member of the Policy and Resources Committee Working Group, which negotiated Jersey’s position on the EU Code of Conduct on Business Taxation and the implementation of the zero ten regime.

·        John currently sits on the Fiscal Strategy Advisory Group, which is a joint venture between Industry and Government tasked with considering future certain corporate tax policy matters and is the vice-chairman of Jersey Market Access Group, which considers various market access policies such as Tax Information Exchange Agreements and Double Tax Agreements..
