Switzerland

Work permits / Relocation

The Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons concluded with the EU has significantly facilitated access to the Swiss employment market for many EU citizens and has simplified the approval process.

However, it remains just as difficult as ever for persons from non-EU countries to obtain work permits. The situation did not change even when the Federal Law on Aliens (AuG) entered into force on January 1, 2008.

Despite the facilitated conditions for EU citizens, there is still a significant amount of work for the cantonal and federal authorities; posted EU citizens only have a basic legal right to engage in gainful employment in Switzerland for up to 90 days per calendar year.

Each year, we prepare a wide range of approval applications and we advise companies about the recruitment of foreign employees, both for temporary projects and for permanent employment.

Employment and residence permits are often linked to problems in the areas of Employment Law , Tax Law and Social Insurance Law. For the founding of companies and the creation of subsidiaries, Company Law Aspects must also be taken into account. We offer advice and strategies for all of these issues.
