Juerg Birri is an Attorney-at-Law in the Zurich office.
He studied law at the University of St. Gallen, from which he graduated in 1999.
Juerg joined KPMG in 2011 and is the head of the Legal department in the German speaking part of Switzerland. He also heads the Private Client practice in the Zurich office. Prior to joining KPMG, Juerg Birri headed the Wealth & Tax Planning department of a major Swiss private bank, where he was involved in a number of complex international tax planning schemes, including the structuring of clients’ personal and business assets and the corresponding estate and tax planning measures.
Juerg advises wealthy individuals with respect to almost all legal and tax matters. This includes in particular the analysis of financial products from a tax and legal point of view and the tax-efficient structuring of assets.
Juerg also advises clients in the financial services industry on a wide range of tax and regulatory issues. He has particular expertise in the private banking sector and advises the bank management and the banking clients in the transformation process from the traditional offshore to onshore banking models.
He is a member of the Management Board Business Line Financial Services.
