“KPMG knows well, only happy employees with a well-balanced lifestyle can continuously deliver high performance.”

Short interview with Thomas Sutter, Senior Assistant Audit, who has worked at KPMG for 2 ½ years.

KPMG: Thomas, you did not hesitate in agreeing to take part in the photo shoot for the current university marketing campaign. What does the ad stand for?

Thomas: To me, the ad suggests that at KPMG a high-performance culture and a good work-life balance go hand in hand. As KPMG knows well, only happy employees with a well-balanced lifestyle can continuously deliver high performance. This is the only sustainable approach.

The ad shows that KPMG is addressing the topic of “life balance” and is also engaging with it. Nevertheless, it is true that we have a lot of extra work to do in Audit in this particularly busy season from January to around April. However, audit assistants like myself can compensate the overtime during the summer months, so my work-life balance evens out over the course of the year.

KPMG: In the picture, we can see you on your way to playing tennis / do sports straight from the office. Is this what actually happens in the daily life of a Senior Assistant?

Thomas: Yes. It is very important to me to do sports on a regular basis, in order to keep the right balance. However, it is quite difficult to stick to fixed times in the evenings, especially during the busy season. But if you really want to, it is possible to pursue your hobbies fairly regularly during the work week. Your day just needs to be organized a bit more efficiently. You simply need to take a flexible approach to assignments and sometimes work a little longer in the evening.
