Kristina started with KPMG Waterloo in January of 2010 as a staff accountant and has since completed a second co-op term in 2011. She really enjoyed the various auditing jobs she got to handle, especially with companies in the manufacturing industry. Her time completing personal tax returns for clients was very enriching and she loved the fast-paced environment.
Apart from her time with KPMG, Kristina loves photography and blogging. Both passions have been combined into a photography blog detailing her various shoots and she hopes to learn more as time goes on.

Wayne started with KPMG at the beginning of January as a co-op student in the Audit group. He also worked in the US Tax group during personal tax season.
Outside of work, he enjoys hanging out with friends, playing basketball, and building scale models.
What Wayne enjoyed about his winter term at KPMG was getting to meet and work with lots of great people. Whether it was at clients with audit teams or in the office with tax preparers, he found that the people are very supportive and a pleasure to work with.

Scott started with KPMG as a high school co-op in 2008. He then worked as a summer intern and has most recently finished his second university co-op work term as a staff accountant in Audit. He really enjoyed learning from the large variety of jobs he got to work on; including Audit, Tax and Enterprise engagements.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing guitar, soccer, football, and socializing with friends and colleagues.
Scott’s favourite part of the work term was getting to know a lot people in the accounting profession and learning so many valuable life and career skills from them.

Deanna started her January 2011 co-op term in the Audit practice at KPMG’s Waterloo office. She enjoyed her term and found it full of learning experiences as she worked on audit engagements covering a variety of industries, including manufacturing, insurance, and municipalities. In her spare time, Deanna enjoys facilitating student leadership workshops on Global Intelligence on campus, as well as learning to play acoustic guitar.
Deanna’s favourite memory from the co-op term was getting to know her coworkers at the Euchre Tournament, one of the office’s many lively social events.

During the winter term, Joyce worked at KPMG for her first co-op term as a staff accountant in the Tax department. She had the opportunity to work on several family and partner trust returns, and personal tax returns.
Her favourite memory at KPMG was sharing homemade dumplings and other dim sum for the office during Chinese New Year. In her spare time, Joyce enjoys travelling, hanging out with friends, and staying active.

Xinxin joined KPMG as a co-op student in January 2010. She mainly works in the Audit group. Xinxin loves to take part in KPMG’s talent attraction and social events. Following her artistic passions, Xinxin continues to do ballet, choreograph dances, and launch artistic events on campus as the Arts Commissioner.

Frank began his role at KPMG last January as an audit co-op in the Kingston office. He enjoyed the diverse client base at Kingston as well as having the opportunity to visit much of Eastern Ontario in his audit fieldwork.
Outside of work, Frank loves to cook and play volleyball in his spare time. As business lead of the UW Formula Motorsports team, he is currently busy helping the team manage their expenses and sponsorship funding in their endeavor to create a world-class racecar. If Frank had to name his favourite part of the co-op experience, it would be the great people that he had the pleasure of meeting and working alongside with.
Nilofer Ahmed

Nilofer has just finished her fourth and final co-op work term with KPMG’s Financial Institutions and Real Estate (FIRE) practice, with a focus on insurance clients. During her time at KPMG, she has also had the opportunity to take part in an Advisory project as well as work with some of KPMG’s support service departments. Outside of work, Nilofer enjoys travelling and has dutifully used her vacation days each work term to travel through parts of Europe and Asia. Nilofer also likes eating out with friends, attending live concerts and exploring downtown Toronto.
Some of Nilofer’s favourite memories at KPMG would have to be the numerous socials, which, over the years, have featured magicians, feather boas, cowboy hats and most importantly, a great group of people.

Stephen worked as a co-op student in the Real Estate Tax Group from January to August. His time in the group gave him the opportunity to prepare partnership, corporate, trust and personal tax returns. In addition he helped prepare research reports, design tax structures and perform quantitative analysis to facilitate tax planning for real estate clients. In his downtime he enjoys camping and canoeing in the summer and skiing throughout the winter. He also found time for a weekend trip to Las Vegas with his friends and is planning at trip to Trinidad before returning to school.
Stephen’s favorite memory from his co-op experience was running in the St. Patrick’s Day charity race with the other members of the Real Estate Tax Group.
Kalpita Chakrabarty

This winter, Kalpita worked with KPMG’s Funds, Insurance and Real Estate practice at KPMG Toronto. Throughout her two co-op terms at KPMG, she has been on primarily real estate clients and one insurance company. She is currently in her final year of undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo.
Outside of work, Kalpita enjoys reading, listening to music and watching television. She is currently working through reading George R.R. Martin’s famed series, A Song of Ice and Fire along with working through the Castle television series. Her favourite television series includes How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl and Modern Family.
Kalpita truly enjoys the dynamic, challenging environment at KPMG and is looking forward to going back for a third busy season this coming winter!
Her favourite memory is of attending the various FIRE socials throughout busy season. It was a great opportunity to take a step back from work and relax with her co-workers!
Cindy Chan

This summer Cindy completed her fourth and final co-op term in KPMG’s Energy, Mining and Industrial Markets practice. She first started co-op in January 2009 and has since gained a wide variety of experience in not only mining and industrial clients from her own group but also in financial institutions, real estate and consumer markets. She also had a chance to be a part of Campus Recruiting during her first two terms for a short term placement. Cindy is an avid film fan, having interned at multiple film festivals. When not catching up on her flicks, she can be seen on the volleyball court ready to play a mean game.
Cindy’s favorite memory was the EMI St. Patty’s Day Social where she had the chance to don a giant green foam hat while hanging out with her other green-clad colleagues.

Since January 2009, Yvonne has worked her co-op terms every busy season with KPMG Enterprise Audit Practice- a total of three busy seasons, one T1 season and one busy summer of NPOs. Beyond client work, Yvonne was involved with the KPMG co-op volunteer committee and attended campus recruiting events. She also had the opportunity to attend a charity gala with KPMG, getting the chance to represent KPMG to potential clients. Outside of work, Yvonne enjoys playing the piano and baking. As of her final work term, she has also been planning to go on before beginning full time at KPMG. She has already planned her Ecuador & Galapagos trip, and is working on her Whistler trip for the winter!
One of Yvonne’s favorite memories from her co-op terms was going on a Niagara Wine Tasting tour for an Enterprise Summer Social, tasting more than nine different types of wines. Her other favorite memory was driving a golf cart with two fellow co-workers around a beautiful Niagara golf course after the wine tour.

During her time with KPMG, she has had the opportunity to work on large client files, with dynamic and enthusiastic audit teams. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys going for early morning runs, spending time with friends and reading a good book!

Shubham has spent the last 2 Winter co-op terms with KPMG’s Financial Institutions and Real Estate Audit Practice in Toronto, as well as a four week rotation in Marketing. Shubham has had had incredible opportunities to work on various audit engagements, spanning from small real estate companies, hotels such as Four Seasons, funds, to insurance companies. In his spare time, Shubham enjoys reading blogs about the latest technology gadgets and the hottest startups. Shubham is actively involved on campus, through various leadership positions in accounting and finance student groups at the University of Waterloo. Shubham is looking forward to returning to KPMG in January 2012 to complete his eight-month double coop term.

Last winter Quinntin did his co-op term in KPMG’s Financial Institutions and Real Estate (FIRE) Audit practice. Quinntin had the opportunity to work with various real estate clients as well as a fund and an insurance company. His diverse assignments have sent him to various locations from Mississauga to Downtown Toronto. At one of his real estate clients he was even given the opportunity to work on a small file on his own. Quinntin said it was a challenging experience that taught him a lot. Outside of auditing Quinntin enjoys going to the gym with his buddies and playing volleyball whenever he can.
Quinntin’s favourite memory from his co-op term was one of the days during training where all the new co-ops did a team building exercise which consisted of learning to play a simple rock song on real instruments.

This winter, Anand had a great time working with KPMG’s Financial Institutions and FIRE practices. During the late nights of the busy season, Anand preferred to drink orange juice instead of coffee, and once single-handedly finished all of Starbucks’ orange juice in one week. Outside of work, Anand has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and loves attending baseball games with his family and friends. He enjoys playing basketball, volunteering, and going out with his friends.
Anand’s favourite memory from the winter is coming into work on his birthday and receiving multiple boxes of homemade cupcakes.

Joining in the winter of 2011, Jason worked with KPMG's Financial Institutions practice, a week in the Enterprise practice as well as a doing a 2 month rotation in KPMG's Tax pool. Jason enjoys playing various sports such as volleyball, basketball and tennis. Jason is also a fan of motor sports, during the summer of 2010 Jason travelled to Ann Arbor, Michigan with Waterloo's Formula Motorsport team to compete in Formula SAE Michigan. Though Jason has not had the chance to visit many foreign countries, he plans to travel throughout Asia when he gets the chance.
Jason's favourite memory from his work term was KPMG's trip to the Blue Jays home opener and also Volunteer Day, where he served food at a local community food centre.

Ian joined KPMG’s Financial Institutions Audit Practice in January of 2009 as a co-op from the University of Waterloo. In FI audit, Ian worked on the engagement teams of a number of banks, brokerages and investment funds –and was given the chance to act as lead senior on two engagements in his third co-op term. After completing three 4-month co-op rotations in audit, Ian joined KPMG’s Corporate Finance practice to pursue his passion for finance. When Ian isn’t playing squash or scouring DealB%k for the latest M&A news, he tries to improve his Mandarin language level with the intention to one day participate in a secondment with KPMG Shanghai.
Ian’s favorite memory from his most recent co-op term at KPMG was introducing his new group to one of his pastimes by organizing the CF group social at Target Sports Canada.

This past winter, Shaila worked at KPMG for her first co-op term in the Financial Institutions Audit Practice. She spent a four month rotation in FI, working on clients varying from small investment firms to large multinational banks. Outside of work, she loves to watch hockey and baseball and also likes to shop.
Shaila’s favourite memory from the co-op term was meeting other co-op students and getting to spend time with them. She also enjoyed the FI social, where the group got to go to the Jays home opener.

In January 2011, Sharon worked in the KPMG Enterprise Audit practice and also spent three weeks in the Enterprise Tax Pool. One of her most memorable audits took place at a not-for-profit organization because she was able to interact with a variety of client staff who genuinely believed in serving the public through their job. Sharon enjoys playing a number of musical instruments and jamming with her friends. She absolutely loves the Harry Potter books and movies and could probably name every spell in the books. She also likes to shop, try new foods, and hang out with friends.
Sharon’s favourite memory was the time she spent working in Enterprise Tax Pool because it gave her the opportunity to form relationships with many staff accountants closer to her age.

Gavin worked with the Energy, Mining and Industrial group this past winter as a co-op student from the University of Waterloo. He had the pleasure of working closely with two of our KPMG Johannesburg (SA) secondees and had the opportunity, during his first co-op in audit, to work on seven audit engagements in total, four of which were mining clients. Gavin enjoys traveling for pleasure, trying new foods and would like to tour both Europe and Asia sometime in his 20s. In his spare time, Gavin likes to go to the gym and hang out with friends.
Gavin’s favourite memory from his co-op term was learning about the South African culture, as well as some Afrikaans slang, from the Johannesburg secondees.

She was given the opportunity to experience both small and large audits and two busy seasons. On her times off, Armaitish enjoys travelling and going out with friends. She has travelled to Europe and throughout the USA.

This summer Ujaas worked with KPMG National Tax Technology department. This was his second semester working for KPMG. The first couple of weeks were a little tough for him to get used to; however, as time went on, he met many friendly people within KPMG that helped him in various ways. As a software developer, he got to learn a lot from his first co-op term and decided to come back for the summer term. Ujaas is also a huge Cricket fan and follows the international tournaments religiously.
Ujaas’s favorite memory from my co-op terms at KPMG was the Christmas Winter Feast Party that was held at the Toronto Metro Convention Center last winter. The reason why this was his favorite memory at KPMG was because he got to experience live performances by Shawn Desman, Kardinal Offishall and K’naan.

An interesting client that Corey had the opportunity to work with was Honda Canada Financing as he is very enthusiastic about both cars and motorcycles. Outside of work Corey enjoys playing basketball and volleyball all year round, and during the winter he enjoys snowboarding and skiing.

Ian began his first 4-month Coop term with KPMG’s Financial Institutions practice in January 2010. Since then, he has returned to KPMG in the Fall 2010 term, and will be returning again for the Fall 2011 term. During his time at KPMG, Ian worked mostly in Audit with an exception of a 1 month rotation with KPMG Marketing. In terms of client, Ian had the opportunity to work on numerous clients ranging from 2 people engagement teams to 50 people teams. He even had the opportunity to travel to Montreal to work on a client by himself. In his spare time, Ian enjoys playing volleyball, and going to the gym.
Ian’s favourite memory during his coop terms at KPMG was attending Winterfest 2010 with all his friends, and seeing K’naan, Shawn Desman, and Kardinal Offishall’s live performance.

During his time at KPMG, Alex had the opportunity to work on various different audit clients both within and outside of his industry group.
