Kristine Allegretto

During the summer, Kristine was part of the Industrial Market floor, where she did her audit rotation. The second part of her rotation was in Enterprise where she had a variety of different opportunities to learn in audit, tax, and advisory. Outside of work, Kristine is an avid soccer player and loves to snowboard in the winter.

 

Kristine’s favorite parts about her summer at KPMG were the people she got a chance to meet, and all the different events that went on during the summer.

Tsveta started with KPMG in the middle of May as a summer intern through the Talent Attraction group. Her first rotation was in the downtown Enterprise group, the second one was in Audit for the Information, Communications & Entertainment group. She really enjoyed planning activities with her peer interns.

 

In her leisure time, Tsveta loves ballroom dancing competitively, travelling, and cooking. Among her favourite travel destinations are the beaches of Bulgaria, the historical sites of Paris, and New York’s Central Park. In the fall, she will be going on a 4-month exchange program to France.

 

Tsveta’s favourite part of the summer was getting to know all of the interns by participating in many socials, training, projects and volunteer events with them.

 

Dennis Au

Dennis started in June 2011 at KPMG as a Direct-to-Tax intern. He worked in KPMG Enterprise and also completed an audit rotation in Industrial Markets. In his spare time, Denis enjoys playing sports, drinking bubble tea, and travelling to warm climates. Recently, he just came back from a 10-day graduation trip to the Mexican Riviera on a cruise.

 

Denis enjoyed cheering on the Canucks with fellow interns, organizing a sandwich drive for the homeless and participating in the World Partnership Walk.

 

Kai Bauman

Kai began in May as a summer intern in the Transactions & Restructuring department of the Financial Advisory Services group, and completed his summer in Audit in the Financial Institutions & Real Estate Services practice. The opportunity to gain experience and develop his knowledge base was invaluable. In his spare time Kai likes to play hockey, golf, and spend time outside with his friends.

 

The most memorable part of Kai’s summer was winning the CA Cup with the KPMG hockey team. In addition, Kai really enjoyed applying the skills he learned in the classroom to real-world situations. The friendships he’s made extend well beyond the office, and the people at KPMG have become an integral part of Kai’s life!

 

Laura Brand

Laura started working with KPMG in May as a Summer Intern. She spent the first part of her summer doing a tax rotation in the Industrial Markets group, followed by an audit rotation on the same floor. Outside of work, Laura loves travelling, shopping and spending time with family and friends.

 

Beyond learning a lot this summer, Laura’s favorite parts of the summer were making a ton of new friends and participating in a wide range of events, including socials and volunteer events.

 

Dylan Callow

Dylan started with KPMG in the middle of May as a summer intern and completed two rotations in Industrial Markets. During his first rotation, Dylan worked in taxation on various mining and energy companies. Later in the summer, he transitioned to Audit.

 

Outside of work he enjoys laser tag, hockey, travelling and going to Whitecaps games as a season ticket holder. In his spare time, Dylan does volunteer work for the Commerce Undergraduate Society as the Vice-President Academic.

 

Dylan’s favourite parts of the summer were getting to know all of the interns on the intern social camping trip, going to Brentwood to help with the UFE, and cheering on the Vancouver Canucks through their quest to the Stanley Cup.

 

Allison Cheng

Allison’s first rotation as a summer intern was in KPMG’s Information, Communications, and Entertainment Audit practice, where she worked with talented individuals on exciting projects. For her second rotation, she had the unique opportunity to work in the growing Sustainability practice, where she learned about KPMG’s involvement in performing Environmental Audit and Advisory services. Allison was excited to see the Vancouver office making strong strides to becoming a more sustainable work place.

 

She enjoyed getting to know all the interns through fun events organized by the Social Committee and at KPMG’s Volunteer Day. Outside of work, she loves going to concerts and trying new restaurants!

Kristen started her summer internship at KPMG in the Indirect Tax group and also completed a rotation in the Financial Institutions & Real Estate Services group. Kristen enjoyed gaining experience by auditing both a large and mid-sized firm. In her spare time, Kristen loves skimboarding, travelling and playing Ultimate Frisbee with the UBC Thunderbirds.

 

Kristen’s favourite memory from the summer was spending time with her fellow interns at the Easter Seals 24-hour relay and the Big 4 Ultimate Frisbee tournament.

 

Natalie Chua

Natalie started with KPMG in May, 2011 as a summer co-op student from UBC. She began her first rotation in the Financial Institutions & Real Estate Services Audit group, working with a diverse group of clients. Natalie ended her summer term with the Indirect Tax Group and is looking forward to her second co-op term with KPMG. Outside of work, Natalie loves to travel, bake, and shop. She is also an avid Canucks fan.

 

A few of her favourite memories from this past summer were watching the Canucks playoff games and throwing the Friday Afternoon Social with her fellow interns. She also enjoyed her time as a Social Committee member and had immense fun at the social events.

 

Jas Dhaliwal

This summer, Jas worked with KPMG’s Information, Communications & Entertainment practice, as well as doing a six-week rotation in KPMG’s Indirect Tax group. Jas worked with a wide variety of clients this summer and learned a lot. In his spare time, Jas loves to travel, play sports and hang out with friends. Jas has travelled extensively as he backpacked through Europe last summer with two of his best friends. He plans on continuing his travelling by planning a trip to Eastern Europe and South East Asia after he graduates.

Salina Dharamsi

Salina Dharamsi is a 4th year accounting co-op student at UBC and a recent alumnus of KPMG's Global Internship Program in South Africa. She worked this summer in both the firm’s Enterprise group and in Audit for the Information, Communications & Entertainment group.

 

Salina is fond of international development and advocacy work; her innate sense of justice has taken her all over the globe including recent adventures to Guatemala, Rwanda, New York and Switzerland. In her spare time she enjoys writing, singing and spending time outdoors.

 

During the summer, Salina really enjoyed getting to know the other interns, connecting with colleagues and meeting clients from the biotech industry.

This summer, Trevor worked with KPMG Enterprise in Burnaby in both the Audit and Tax groups. In his spare time Trevor enjoys playing and refereeing soccer. When not at work or in class, you can find him at Empire Field supporting the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

 

Trevor’s favourite part of the summer was participating in sporting events like the CA Soccer Tournament and Ultimate Frisbee tournament.

Kathy started as a co-op student in the audit division of the Industrial Markets group, working with a number of mining and forestry clients. Her second rotation was in the US Tax group, which brought back fond memories of living in Wisconsin. Kathy likes to travel, golf, and hike, and she spent her free time this summer learning tennis and training for hiking the West Coast Trail.

 

Kathy’s favourite part of the summer was meeting so many genuine people and bonding with the rest of the summer students, especially at the social events!

Balraj started with KPMG in the middle of May as a summer intern. He worked on a rotation in both Tax and Audit with KPMG Enterprise in Burnaby. He really enjoyed working with a diverse group of co-workers and clients. Outside of work, Balraj enjoys playing sports, watching hockey, and hanging out with friends. He also has a passion for extreme adventures including bungee jumping, white water rafting, and rock climbing.

 

Balraj’s favourite part of the summer was hanging out with the other interns at the various social and community events.

This summer Fred did a rotation in Tax and Audit in Financial Institutions & Real Estate Services as a summer intern. He had a great time on client engagements during his audit rotation and learned a lot from his audit team. Fred is a huge Canucks fan, loves to play baseball, and will be going to Ireland on exchange right after his summer internship.

 

One of the best parts of his summer was organizing and taking part in socials with his fellow interns; these events were always sure to be a good time!

 

Andrew Mathias

Andrew began his first rotation in the Information, Communications and Entertainment Audit practice, working with a broad range of clients. Later in the summer, he transitioned into Tax in the same practice. Andrew also enjoyed planning many sporting and social events and community activities with his fellow interns. Prior to starting his internship with KPMG, Andrew Florida and went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando where he bought a Voldemort Wand.

 

Andrew’s favourite part of the summer was bonding, not only with interns, but also with full-time KPMG accountants including seniors and managers.

Brooke started with KPMG as a summer intern in the middle of May. After spending one week in training with 30 other interns, she was out on her first audit. Her summer was spent on the Industrial Markets floor, with the first rotation in audit and the second in tax. In her spare time Brooke enjoys running, playing on KPMG’s Ultimate Frisbee team, and spending time with her dog.

 

The most memorable part of Brooke’s summer involved planning and putting on social events for the whole firm to attend.

Venus just started with KPMG as a co-op student in the Financial Institutions & Real Estate Services group in Audit, followed by a rotation in Marketing. During her spare time, Venus enjoys playing sports, reading, learning new languages, socializing, cooking, and volunteering. Venus also loves travelling, and she has had the opportunity to travel to various parts of Asia. In May 2010, she went to on an exchange to Shanghai. Her next big travel plan is to explore the culturally-rich Europe.

 

Venus’ favourite part of summer was having fun all around Vancouver working, volunteering and attending social events with the other interns.

Tim started with KPMG in the middle of May as a Summer Intern in the Vancouver Office. He started his first rotation for the Information, Communications & Entertainment practice in Tax, and then transitioned into Audit in the same practice. Throughout his internship, Tim had the opportunity to organize and participate in various sporting activities, social events, and community outreaches. In his free time, Tim enjoys playing basketball and soccer, and strumming the guitar.

Jane started at KPMG in May as a summer co-op student. She enjoyed her time on floor 9th in the Information, Communications & Entertainment practice, with her first rotation in Audit, followed by her second rotation in Tax. Outside of work, she enjoys playing volleyball and travelling, and hopes to take a trip around Europe in the near future.

 

Throughout the summer, she enjoyed various events and socials with her fellow interns.

Theodore began his journey with KPMG this summer in the Financial Institutions & Real Estate Services group. His first rotation in Audit was an extremely enriching experience as he was immediately able to work hands-on in the audit process with multiple clients. His second rotation with Tax was also a phenomenal opportunity, as he learned how to do more in-depth tax analysis. Outside of work, Theodore enjoys spending quality time with his friends and family, always hoping to make them smile and laugh.

 

Overall, he really enjoyed the deep connections he made with the other interns throughout the summer and knows that in years to come, these individuals will become some of his closest colleagues and friends.

Michelle Yang started at KPMG last summer and began with a rotation in Advisory. She enjoyed working with a diverse group of people and attending community events. Her second rotation was with Audit on the Information, Communications & Entertainment floor. There, she worked with knowledgeable mentors on a variety of clients. Outside of school she enjoys spending time with friends, movies and fine arts.

 

For Michelle, the best parts of summer were the friends she made, the social events and the volunteer opportunities. It’s a summer that will not be forgotten!

This summer, Caroline started with KPMG’s Financial Institutions & Real Estate Services practice, doing rotations in Audit and Advisory. Outside of work, Caroline enjoys travelling and will be doing an exchange to Hong Kong in the fall. As well, Caroline is passionate about giving back to the community and has been a volunteer for Music Box Children’s Charity for the past three years.
