Samuel Chan

Sam’s first rotation was in National Assurance Professional Practice (NAPP). NAPP helps to address complex accounting issues that an audit team may face while working with a client. Internally, the group ensures that new audit knowledge is disseminated throughout the firm. His second rotation was with the Enterprise group. It was an incredible experience to interact with different clients which provided hands-on opportunity to see what auditing is like outside of the classroom. Sam stays active by golfing, swimming or going for a run to explore Toronto. He also enjoys travelling and playing guitar in his spare time.
Sam’s favourite part of the summer was the Ultimate Frisbee Tournament and participating in the Amazing Race where they went all over downtown Toronto for the afternoon.
Kelvin Ewald

Kelvin Ewald started with KPMG through the Summer Internship program in May of 2011. In his first rotation Kelvin was assigned to the Talent Attraction department, having the fortune of working on a familiar subject alongside the recruiting team that is well known by all students. Kelvin’s second rotation is in the Consumer Markets Audit group, which focuses on multi-national consumer brand clients.
Outside of the office, Kelvin is active hiking outdoors and enjoys tennis, running, squash and playing on KPMG’s ultimate frisbee team. He is passionate about live music and composes, records, and sometimes performs his own. Kelvin is an avid reader in topics such as urban geography, environmental economics, and business topics.
Kelvin’s favourite aspect of the Summer Internship was having a chance to work alongside, but mainly socialize with almost 40 other interns in the GTA; who on typical evenings or weekends would be active in sports, volunteer activities, or social events. Living in Toronto was a thoroughly enjoyable and long-awaited experience for Kelvin. He hopes to travel to Europe at the end of the summer.

Tausif started with KPMG as a summer intern in US Corporate Tax. He had the opportunity to work out of his own office space in North York on several big US clients. His second rotation was in EMI, where he worked out of the Bay Adelaide Center on other interesting clients. Outside of work, Tausif enjoys travelling, shows/movies, sports, gym, martial arts, and racing. In his free time when he’s not spending time with friends and family, you can find him ripping up the streets on his Kawasaki Ninja sports bike. Tausif’s highlight for the summer was getting to know a lot of new friendly people at numerous socials/activities, while learning a lot about his work and career.
Bryan Lehman

Bryan’s summer internship with KPMG started in May 2011 with work in the Financial Institutions, Audit group. He really enjoyed the opportunity to get an in-depth look into the structure and operations of Canadian banks. His second rotation was in US Corporate Tax, where he spent six weeks. Outside of work, he spends his time playing hockey, going golfing, and scuba diving whenever possible.
Bryan’s favourite part of the summer was getting to go out to clients and take part in audits with the engagement teams. This helped him gain a much deeper understanding of how the auditing process works, and to acquire important technical skills he will be able to use in the future. Another highlight for Bryan was getting to know the other interns through the many trainings, socials, and volunteer events that were held throughout the summer.

Patrick started as a KPMG summer intern in the Advisory Transaction Services practice. He enjoyed working on a highly integrated team of professionals providing due diligence services for private equity and corporate clients. Patrick’s second rotation was in the Audit practice in the Energy, Mining & Industrials (EMI) group. Outside of work he enjoys playing soccer, working out and is currently learning to play bass guitar. In September, Patrick is heading to southern Japan to participate in a 9-month exchange program. Patrick’s favourite part of the summer was having the opportunity to live and work in downtown Toronto. His internship provided both a realistic preview of life at KPMG and a positive experience to draw from as he moves forward with his career.
