Veronica Baker
v.baker@dal.ca

Veronica started with KPMG in January, 2010 as a co-op student. She completed rotations in both Audit and Tax. She worked with several different groups on different audits and got to experience several different industries, from large companies to small non-profits. During her tax rotation, she enjoyed completing many personal tax returns.

Outside of work, Veronica enjoys travelling, yoga, and lots of campus involvement. She has just completed a semester abroad in Iceland.

Veronica’s favourite part of her semester with KPMG was working in small teams to complete audits, and the friendships made because of that. She really appreciated how easy it was to feel like an important member of each project.

Denise Cook

This summer Denise will be completing rotations with the Human Resources, Enterprise, and Tax - Enterprise group. She has previously completed two prior work terms at the firm, and is very much looking forward to meeting more people in the office, as well as getting to know her fellow interns. In her spare time Denise enjoys playing with her two dogs (or any other dog), and hopes to experience some of the hiking trails this summer with friends.

As a co-op student, Spencer started with KPMG in the beginning of January as a part of KPMG’s Internal Audit team. He enjoyed meeting with different clients who represented many different Maritime businesses. Due to his engagements, Spencer has gained invaluable experience in a professional setting as well as experience with a wide range of Atlantic industries.

Outside of the workplace, Spencer enjoys travelling, playing sports, and spending time with family. His most recent travels include Miami, Sarasota, Cancun, Montreal and Vancouver.

Alana Hudson

Alana Hudson started with KPMG at the beginning of May as a summer intern with the Financial Institutions and Real Estate (FIRE) group. She was assigned to a real estate company during her time in FIRE and her second rotation was in the Global Learning group. Alana enjoyed her time spent out on engagement, as well as participating in many different KPMG events. As part of the social committee Alana participated in organizing many social events for the interns.

Outside of work, she enjoys a variety of sports, spending time with friends, and cooking. Alana’s favourite part of the summer was spending time and establishing strong relationships with all the other interns as well as developing an understanding of conducting audits.

Phil Linton
philip.w.linton@gmail.com

Phil started at KPMG as a co-op student, and completed Three Four month semesters with KPMG, in the Energy Mining and Industrial Markets Group.  He has had the opportunity to work on some of the largest mining companies and Canada. Outside of KPMG, he enjoys riding mountain bikes, playing guitar, and going up to the cottage.

One of his favorite times this summer at KPMG was the golf day. Even though he played awful golf, but still had a great time.

Alana McIntyre
alana.mcintyre@dal.ca

This summer Alana worked in Audit, Tax, and a short time in eAudit. She spent her last semester studying abroad in France, and enjoyed meeting other students from all around the world. Alana has danced her whole life, and enjoys her part-time job of walking dogs in Halifax while going to Dalhousie University. When not in Halifax, Alana lives in Calgary and tries to get out to the mountains to go snowboarding as much as she can.

James Rockwood
jm849922@dal.ca

This past winter, James worked at KPMG’s Halifax office as a staff accountant. James started in Audit and later transferred to Tax. During his time in Audit, James helped audit private and public companies from different industries. He really enjoyed this because it let him see behind the scenes of some local companies and learn how they operated. After he transferred into Tax, James worked on personal tax returns. Other than work, James enjoys taekwondo, skiing and travelling.

James’ favorite part of his work term was the learning-oriented environment in the Halifax office. As a first work term, James had a lot of questions which were happily answered by his team mates. This helped facilitate his learning and get the most out of his work term.

Nathan Rogers
nathanr87@gmail.com

Nathan completed his first co-op work term in the Halifax office as a staff accountant. He spent his first two months with the firm in the Audit practice where he worked with public, private, and not-for-profit companies. He spent the last two months of his placement in the tax pool preparing personal tax returns. His favourite part of his time at KPMG was being able to work with different engagement teams and meet a variety of people on a more personable level.

Nathan follows his passion for soccer outside of work as he competes on the Varsity Men’s team at Dalhousie and a local club team as well.

Outside of the office, Nicole enjoys travelling, art and music. She has travelled extensively across the country and through Europe, and plans to travel more in her years to come.

This summer, Nicole hopes to get as involved as she can in social and volunteer events. She is very excited to have joined the KPMG team and looks forward in getting to know all her fellow interns and colleagues.
