KPMG’s Audit Committee Institute (ACI) conducts a national roundtable series twice each year (Spring and Fall) to facilitate the exchange of views and insights on topics of interest to members of corporate boards, audit committees, and senior management.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS
The NACD Corporate Directors Institute has accredited this program to provide two continuing education credits (CDEs) for those who hold the Certificate of Director Education. Additionally, continuing professional education (CPE) credits are available to participants, although state boards have final authority on the acceptance and determination of individual course credits.
Spring 2008 Roundtable -- Risk Oversight in an Evolving Environment -- Pressure Points, Priorities, and Oversight Challenges
ACI's Spring 2008 Audit Committee Roundtable series, to be held during May and June 2008, will consider the audit committee's role in overseeing key risks related to an economic downturn, including liquidity, access to captial, and the increased risk of earning management. We will also explore how audit committees are addressing concerns about the quality of the company's risk intelligence, including the adequacy of risk inventories and assessments. These roundtables will also include a special briefing on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including key considerations for audit committees in their oversight of IFRS conversion and implementation.
Fall 2007 Roundtable on Audit Committee Effectiveness – Post SOX: Thinking Back, Looking Ahead
This is a two-page summary of key audit committee challenges and issues discussed at ACI's 30-city Audit Committee Roundtable Series, which concluded in December. Themes and survey results in this report focus on audit committee oversight of key risks and risk management, supporting the CFO and internal audit function in their vital and evolving roles, and staying apprised of accounting standards and regulations, which continue to grow in volume and complexity. Spring 2007 Roundtable Highlights: Exploring the Audit Committee's Role in IT Governance
During ACI’s Spring 2007 Roundtable Series, audit committee members, directors, and senior management participated in interactive discussions in 30 cities around the country, sharing insights on key challenges and emerging practices in the oversight of IT governance. Based on roundtable dialogue and real-time surveys of panelists and participants, many audit committee members see substantial room for improvement in the implementation and oversight of IT governance processes.(Read more…)
Who Attends Our Roundtables?
ACI roundtables typically attract 2,000-plus participants in more than 30 cities across the U.S.—including board and audit committee members, CFOs, CEOs, chief auditors (internal audit), corporate counsel, and other senior level professionals. Attendees represent public companies and organizations of all industries and sizes. Nearly half of attendees at ACI's Roundtable series represent companies with annual revenue exceeding US $1 billion.

ACI’s roundtables are highly interactive, with panelists and participants driving much of the discussion. Technology-enabled surveys allow participants to share their views anonymously and in real-time during the roundtable discussion.
