December climate change talks present both opportunities and challenges 

There is a growing appreciation of the emerging role of business in mitigating and adapting to climate change, despite regulatory uncertainty and improvements required to the measuring, reporting and verification of carbon emissions.
Business is encouraged to engage government and not wait for government to deliver policy. In addition, the recent Conference of the Parties (COP 16) convened in Cancun, Mexico, served to restore faith in climate change negotiations following the COP15 discussions in Copenhagen and has paved the way for potentially fruitful deliberations in Durban in December this year. These were some of the views to emerge at a recently convened panel discussion hosted jointly by the National Business Initiative (NBI) and KPMG. Read more.
