Water Sector in South Africa 

The World Economic Forum has identified water supply crises as one of the top 5 global risks in terms of both like likelihood and impact. By 2030, half of the world’s population will live in water stressed catchments.

South Africa is classified as ‘water stressed’ – the 30th driest country in the world, with 30 percent of SA towns currently in water deficit – it is estimated that there will be a national deficit by 2025.

 

Clearly, water supply has become a major concern for many economies globally, and increased urbanisation and economic growth present particular challenges.
