The Act calls for companies to describe the measures taken, and in certain circumstances to exercise due diligence on the source and chain of custody of minerals used for the production of a product originated in the DRC. They must describe products manufactured that are “DRC Conflict Free”, “Not DRC Conflict Free” or “DRC Conflict Free Undeterminable”.

This sector briefing aims to provide context by delving into a series of case studies, which include unique insights from KPMG’s work with companies in key mining countries such as Australia, Brazil, Peru and South Africa.

It further explores how these mining companies leverage sustainable development to tackle resource constraints and socio-political challenges in remote areas in the world.
