China's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) - KPMG Insight Series 

China is Africa’s largest trading partner and has become the world’s second largest economy. Therefore the release of its 12th Five-Year Plan is of significance to many businesses. The new five-year plan shows a definite shift to a 'higher quality growth'. This new plan also attempts to address many of China’s social issues by reducing disparities, protecting the environment, increasing domestic consumption and moving up the value chain. There may be significant opportunities from this new plan for foreign companies across various sectors. These may take the form of inbound or outbound investment.

KPMG has developed thought leadership material on various aspects of the plan including per key sector. A webcast was held on Tuesday, 28 June 2011, with more than 3 000 registered participants around the globe. A copy of the slides from the webcast has been made available.


The 12th Five-Year plan will be operationalised by the plans developed by Provincial and Local Government including specific measures over the next few weeks and months.
