KPMG Africa Conversation: Episode 8 - Considered approach required when exploring opportunities in Africa

Different tax regimes, different markets and different corporate governance requirements are just some of the challenges investors and companies must face when investing in Africa, according to KPMG’s Global Chairman, Michael Andrew. “So it’s not possible to see the continent as one simple market,” he said.

Andrew was part of a panel of African business experts at KPMG’s most recent Africa Conversation Series episode – Investing in Africa: “Been there – done that” – broadcast live from the firm’s 2012 Africa Partners’ Conference held in October.


He was joined on the panel by Peter Staude, Chief Executive Officer, Tongaat Hullet; Leslie Maasdorp, President, Bank of America Merrill Lynch Southern Africa; Marlon Chigwende, Managing Director, Carlyle Group (Sub Saharan Africa) and Khumo Shuenyane, Group Chief Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions officer, MTN Group Limited.
