Shireen is a Partner in KPMG’s Climate Change and Sustainability Services business unit.
She has 25 years of experience in the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE)/Sustainability field, the last 17 of which have been predominantly in the mining sector, relating to sustainability reporting and assurance (including ICMM, GRI, the UN Global Compact, the Voluntary Principles for Security and Human Rights, World Bank Guidelines for Resettlement, Social and Labour Plans and the Mining Charter), HSE management systems & due diligence and environmental rehabilitation provisions.
She has worked with some of the largest mining companies in the world including Anglo American, BHP-Billiton and Xstrata.
Shireen’s country experience includes South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, Mozambique, USA, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, China, Australia, Peru and Bulgaria.
She is a member of the Institute of Director’s Sustainable Development Forum and a member of the South African Integrated Reporting Committee Working Group.
She was also a member of the judges panel for the ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards, since its inception in South Africa.
