Danie Van Heerden 


Danie joined KPMG as a first year article clerk in 1978 and was admitted to the firm’s partnership in March 1987. He was appointed Managing Partner for Energy and Natural Resources (ENR) in 1995 and was a member of the KPMG International ENR Board from 1998 to 2002.  He was first elected onto the Policy Board for KPMG in South Africa in September 1996. Appointed to the Executive Committee in September 1999 and served as Deputy Chief Executive until 2014.


Danie’s industry experience is mainly in mining, utilities and chemicals, with his key areas of experience being in assurance, risk management, business process analysis, business models, IAS, strategic reporting, audit and due diligence. Previously, Danie also headed the KPMG global team that developed and trained the KPMG mining business model and Business Measurement Process approach in Australia, Canada, South Africa and the United States.
