WTO adopts report regarding China’s treatment of electronic payment services

September 4:   The World Trade Organization adopted a panel’s findings for the United States in a dispute regarding China's discrimination against U.S. suppliers of electronic payment services, according to an announcement issued by the United States Trade Representative.

The WTO panel in July 2012 agreed that China’s measures deny a level playing field to U.S. service providers, and that China had entrenched the market dominance of its own company, China Union Pay (CUP), and distorted competition in China to the detriment of U.S. providers.
