I’ve been a film nerd since I was four, constantly frustrated by the film industry making it difficult for me to find and watch the films I love. My obsession started with The Goonies and Indiana Jones, progressed to Aliens, Fight Club and Pulp Fiction and as my tastes expanded, foreign film classics, such as Canada’s C.R.A.Z.Y., France’s Ma Vie En Rose and Italy’s Loose Cannons joined this treasured fold.
None of these were mass marketed. All left me seeking out the future work of its actors and directors. Back in the 80’s I would have been reliant on my local cinema, BlockBuster video stores and billboard posters to let me know about their upcoming work, but the digital age has changed that completely... and using it to crowdsource film lovers could transform it, so that you and I will dictate the future of OUR personalised film industry. The Veronica Mars Kickstarter project is clear proof that this is becoming a reality.
