Andrew Pearson: Auto-enrolment compliance is not straightforward at all; every employer in the UK is going to have to make some fundamental changes to its communications just to comply with auto-enrolment.
The government have set out what the requirements are to comply with auto-enrolment, but there's a huge amount of information there and every employer across the UK is going to have to get to grips with that to understand what information they need to send out to which employees at which period of time. The rules are there but every employer is going to have to get to grips with it.
Andrew Pearson: For the first time around seven or eight million people are going to be enrolled into a pension scheme and for lots of those people it's the first time they've even heard about pensions. It's actually the first time that a lot of people have communicated with their employees about pensions so actually compliance is the first step, it's the building block really from which they're going to have to do far more.
KPMG were already working with clients to profile their workforces and understand how their workforce likes to receive information. And we're creating communication strategies that ensure they comply with the requirements, which is fundamental, but actually it's also giving their employees what they want out of this, as well.
