Stephen Frost was Head of Diversity & Inclusion at LOCOG from 2008 to 2012 and achieved unprecedented workforce inclusion across the 200,000 staff base through supply and demand side interventions. With 9% disabled, 40% BAME, 46% female and 5% LGBT staff, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games saw mass participation by diverse groups.
Prior to working at LOCOG, Stephen spent three years at the LGBT organisation Stonewall where he played a key role on the executive team and led growth in the client base from 65 to 300 organisations.
Post London Olympics, Stephen has been Visiting Fellow at Harvard University on the Women and Public Policy programme, during which time he also wrote a book, The Inclusion Imperative.
Stephen’s appointment at KPMG underlines the firm’s determination to drive its own diversity and inclusion efforts forward and achieve a step-change in results. He will join the firm in February.
Simon Collins, Chairman and Senior Partner at KPMG, said:
“We are delighted to bring someone of Stephen’s acknowledged calibre and experience on board. Everyone remembers the London 2012 games as a triumph of diversity and engagement. We want to bring something of that into our own environment. We know the importance of creating an environment rich in diverse talent from top to bottom, where everyone feels comfortable to be themselves and where diversity is seen not just as an accepted fact but as a positive business benefit. We have been making some progress – but want to make it faster. Stephen’s appointment is an integral part of achieving transformational change.”
Commenting on his joining the firm, Stephen Frost said:
“I am very excited by the prospect of starting at KPMG. I have been impressed by the openness of the culture there and the real commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. As an organisation, KPMG has come a long way. Now I want to help them go even further and put diversity and inclusion right at the heart of their people approach.”
