UK manufacturing continues to go from strength to strength, says KPMG

Stephen Cooper, UK Head of Manufacturing, comments on the latest Markit/CIPS UK Manufacturing PMI data published today:

“These latest figures show once more that the UK manufacturing sector is going from strength to strength. Rates of output and new order growth continue to be close to August’s peaks and job creation is on the rise.

“Strong UK demand is driving this growth, and the recovery in the ever important European market, albeit somewhat fragile, is equally encouraging.

“It looks like the ‘feel-good factor’ so many talked about during the summer is here to stay throughout the autumn.

“We are on the path to growth which means we should all pull together; what we don't need are big disruptive events like the US Budget deficit rows that could jeopardize the burgeoning recovery.”
