UK airports lagging further behind says KPMG

Dr. Ashley Steel, KPMG’s global head for transport comments on Frankfurt Airport’s fourth runway:

“In a period of economic turmoil and rising unemployment the potential benefits of private sector funded airport capacity expansion in order to enable hub operations has never been greater.

“The fourth runway at Frankfurt Airport which opens this week illustrates the vision and competitive edge of a world financial city looking to securely capture global business.

“Not so for London.  However, there may now be light at the end of the runway.

“With a new Secretary of State for Transport combined with new more quiet and lower carbon emitting aircraft such as the 787 Dreamliner will this be a new dawn for London?  We hope so.”
