KPMG has appointed John Leech as UK Head of its Automotive practice. John is a partner with 20 years experience at KPMG during which time he has worked with many leading automotive manufacturers, component suppliers and distributors. John has significant industry insight and knowledge – including a secondment to the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) to project manage the work of the Automotive Innovation and Growth Team which advised the UK Government on its automotive policy.
Mathieu Meyer, Global Head of Automotive at KPMG, said: “John brings a wealth of expertise to this role as he has extensive experience of working with international, government and industry groups in the automotive sector which makes him a strong asset to our practice and clients. He has significant UK and international experience which includes recent transactional experience in equity and debt offerings in the UK and US, IPOs and private equity investment.”
John’s new role will focus on driving forward KPMG’s Automotive practice in the UK. The car industry is facing real challenges in new technology such as electro-mobility, developing joint ventures & alliances in the emerging markets and re-calibrating supply-chains. John’s focus will be to help KPMG’s automotive clients rise to meet such challenges.

Next month, John will present on the growth prospects for the UK automotive industry at the next All Party Parliamentary Motor Group at the Houses of Parliament.

KPMG’s 13th Global Automotive Executive Survey: Managing growth while navigating uncharted routes, was launched in January 2012. The survey is based on a survey of 200 automotive executives, over half of whom are business unit heads or higher. The respondents come from all parts of the automotive value chain including vehicle manufacturers, tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers, dealers as well as financial service companies and for the first time mobility service providers.
