KPMG is proud to have won an award recognising its efforts to improve diversity, social mobility and equality through a new recruitment initiative it launched last year.
The firm received the ‘Widening the Talent Pool’ award at the Race for Opportunity Awards 2012, hosted by Business in the Community (BITC).
The Race for Opportunity awards recognise exceptional progress within organisations working towards race equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
KPMG was recognised in the Widening the Talent Pool category for its STARs programme, an initiative that offers the very best talent, from less privileged London boroughs, 11 months paid work experience in the Risk Consulting practice. Individuals are recruited through partnerships and links with local schools and colleges, and the programme provides STARs with exposure on real projects combined with clearly defined goals, performance management support and mentoring.
In an industry where new joiners are traditionally recruited as graduates from top universities, KPMG’s STARs programme is an innovative approach to widening entry routes into the profession to a broader social group and growing KPMG’s talent.
